Wake up, Sexy
Wow, did we have fun with these.
The ask was to create 15 :15 TV spots that showcased affordable holiday gifts. Half of the spots were shot with Rhythm & Hues, the same company that created the Coca-Cola polar bears and "Babe, Pig in the City." The other half, the live-action spots, were shot with Rob Pritts, Backyard Productions. The kicker? Jason Alexander, George from “Seinfeld,” was the voice-over. And we worked with Muzika Mutato, the commercial sector of Devo. Swoon.
In this spot, we figured that this guy wouldn’t mind waking up to this sexy voice. I was so relieved when we finally sold this spot. I had to affect a smokery, sultry voice in a dizzying number of client meetings. #cringe

Sweaters That Stand Out
Who knew we’d find the very breed of sheep that was shorn for our sweaters? But seriously, the only way we could get the sheep (mamas!) to run in front of the camera was to position their babies camera left. So when the little ones cried, the mamas came a ‘runnin’.

Brrrber Fleece
When we were concepting, we couldn’t resist the play between “berber” and “brrrr” so we went with it.

Pillow Pets
It's a pillow. It's a pet. It's a pillow pet! Watching these kids duke it out was a blast!

Honest Abe
I had the honor to worked with the late SNL star, Phil Hartman, on this animated spot. He took voice over direction from me with grace. Such a lovely guy.

Jeans That Take You Places
After starting my career on Madison Avenue, it was a thrill to shoot this spot with Todd Bellanca back in New York in the Hamptons. As a result that year, JCPenney sure sold a lot of denim.

Run Away From Breast Cancer
JCPenney was one of the sponsors of the Komen Race for the Cure. We recreated a race in New Orleans with the help of our amazing director, Jeff Bednarz. The music was an excerpt from a song by acclaimed English sacred music composer, John Rutter. This was one of the most meaningful experiences of my career.

Dental Floss
This radio spot featured AZ, a unisex fragrance from Arizona jeans. The voice over is Thomas Hripko, the guy who owns The Radio Spot in Dallas, and who penned the Motel 6 spots.

Stafford Traveller
This radio spot featured a special promotion: Try on or buy a Stafford suit and you'll be entered to win a Harley. The admin in the spot is Edie McClurg, the school secretary in "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." I was a big fan and got all gushy around her.
